My priorities for the Borders in 2024

The new year is a great time to look forward with a renewed sense of optimism and purpose.

As your Member of Parliament for the Scottish Borders, I want to outline to you what my priorities will be in 2024.

Borders workers to pay more and get less from SNP

This year, people across the Borders will pay more tax but get even less from the SNP Government.

The SNP’s latest budget included a dire mixture of tax hikes for middle earners and funding cuts to essential public services.

I am pleased to announce the winning design in the annual Christmas Card competition I run alongside Rachael Hamilton MSP.

My Christmas message for 2023

Christmas is approaching and I hope you have wonderful plans to spend time with family and friends this year.

It's the best time of year to come together and share cherished moments with loved ones.

Support local businesses over crucial winter period

We’re lucky to have so many brilliant small businesses operating in the Scottish Borders.

To celebrate just a few of them, I recently held my annual Small Business Awards competition.

National 'Save Our Banks' campaign launches

I have joined a national parliamentary campaign aimed at keeping bank branches open across the country.

The ‘Save Our Banks’ campaign has been launched by Derbyshire Dales representative, Sarah Dines MP.

Small Business Award winners announced for 2023

I have announced the winners of my Scottish Borders Small Business Awards 2023.

Congratulations to the worthy winners of my Small Business Awards competition this year.

UK Government Budget delivers for Borders

The UK Government Autumn Statement delivered emphatically for the Borders and all of Scotland.

I was especially delighted to secure £20 million for the Borders through the creation of a Levelling Up Partnership with the local council.
