Rural communities left to count cost of road closures

People living in rural areas are being left without vital economic and transport links to their local towns due to multiple, lengthy and disruptive road closures within a short period of time.

The UK is due to leave the European Union this Friday, January 31st. After the election in late 2019, where the Conservatives won a majority, the government was able to pass the Withdrawal Agreement, allowing the UK to leave. This was a key pledge made during the election.

Borders railway station usage up

New figures from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) have shown that more and more people are using Scottish Borders train stations, following a trend since opening in 2015.

They also reveal that Tweedbank is by far the busiest station in the region.

British Gas slammed for cutting prepayment options

British Gas customers have been struggling to top up their prepayment meters after changes to the way it can be paid. Previously, PayPoint provided payment services but this is now provided by Payzone, meaning 15,000 fewer locations to top up across the UK.
