I'm sure we've all got fond memories of using the Jedburgh pool.
The pool is where lots of local residents learned to swim and took their children to parent and toddler classes.
I know many elderly people really value it too and use it regularly.
It's a brilliant resource for the community where people can exercise, socialise and come together.
Personally, I know the Jedburgh pool well having used it for many months when the Kelso swimming pool was being refurbished.
I'm very disappointed at the state it is currently in and I know that view is shared by people of all ages across Jed and the Borders.
Admittedly, the situation that forced the pool to close was complex and complicated. The financial considerations are not quick and easy to sort, unfortunately.
But, ultimately, the pool needs to be reopened as soon as possible.
A lot of people would still use the pool regularly if they could.
Valued services like the pool must remain accessible and open for the benefit of local communities.
Around 1000 people recently attended a public meeting to show their support for the reopening of the pool, confirming the strength of feeling that local people have on this issue.
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend that meeting as I had to be in the House of Commons for a debate.
However, I remain 100% committed to finding a solution that keeps the pool open, and I will continue campaigning for that to happen.
I will work constructively with anyone, of any political party or any organisation, who wants to see the pool open again.
I am still optimistic that a solution can be found that secures the long-term future of the facility, especially given how important it is to the local community.
