Local Scottish Conservative politicians John Lamont MP and Rachael Hamilton MSP are joining forces this year to bring their summer advice surgery tour to 84 stops across the Scottish Borders.
The dates, which have just been announced, start on Friday 6th July with Ancrum and finish on Friday 3rd August in Ayton, taking in 82 locations in between.
As well as visiting all the major towns and villages, John and Rachael will be holding advice surgeries for some of the more remote locations in their constituencies, including Cappercleuch in the Yarrow Valley, Abbey St Bathans in the Lammermuir hills and Hermitage in Liddesdale.
The joint tour will take place in John and Rachael’s largely overlapping constituencies, with John attending the surgeries on Saturday 7th July and Tuesday 31st July on his own.
The sheer number of locations means that no constituent will live more than a 9-mile drive from their nearest advice surgery.
Borderers are being encouraged to use the tour as an opportunity to discuss face to face with their local MP and MSP, any issue which they might be having difficult with no matter how large or small.
Dates will appear in local newspapers in the coming weeks, as well as on both John and Rachael’s website.
John Lamont MP, said: “As I represent one of the largest constituencies in the UK, my regular advice surgeries do not always give people the opportunity to meet with me in their local community.
“My summer surgery tour is one of my favourite times of year, it is great to take the time to visit every part of the Borders. This is part of my commitment to be as accessible to my constituents as possible, so I’m pleased that Rachael and I have been able to fit in so many stops this year.
“As always, no appointment is necessary, so please feel free to come along if there is an issue you would like to discuss.
