John Lamont has visited the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Hawick today (Thursday 15th December) to wish the staff there luck ahead of the Christmas rush.
The next two weeks until Christmas will be the busiest time of year for the team, with many delivery offices staying open late to deal with increased influx of letters and parcels.
During his visit John met the staff who will be taking on the extra work over the next few weeks, and thanked them for their efforts.
John Lamont MSP said:
“It’s a really busy time of year for the staff at Hawick Delivery Office and as the largest town in my constituency, the team have a huge volume of letters and parcels to deliver.
“I was pleased to be able to thank them all for their hard work not only at Christmas but throughout the year.
“At this time of year, while many of us are able to enjoy ourselves, the Royal Mail staff will be working flat out to make sure presents and cards arrive on time. Without them, the festive period simply wouldn’t be the same.
“They will be delivering my Christmas Cards and 2017 Calendar this year so it was great to get a chance to thank them for all their hard work on my behalf!”
