Local MSP John Lamont has held his 1,000th advice surgery as MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire with a pledge to continue as Scotland’s ‘most accessible MSP.’
On Friday 12th August, John hosted his 999th surgery at Glendouglas Community Hall near Jedburgh, before travelling to Foulden in East Berwickshire for his 1,000th advice surgery.
It is understood that the milestone makes John the first MSP to have held so many advice surgeries. Alongside over 100 surgeries each year, John’s fully staffed constituency office in Hawick and prioritisation of his constituents makes him Scotland’s ‘most accessible’ MSP.
John Lamont MSP said: “As a Member of the Scottish Parliament, my number one priority has always been the Borders, which is why I make sure I spend as much time as possible in my constituency.
“The 1,000th milestone was important to me because surgeries give constituents who might find it difficult to travel to my office in Hawick the chance to meet me face to face.
“I’ve used my 1,000th surgery to pledge to my constituents to continue this open and accessible approach to politics. I continue to be available to my constituents at my Hawick office, at my regular surgeries, on the phone or via email.”
John added: “I take pride in the fact that I will endeavour to assist local residents with whatever the concern, problem or issue might be. As ever, I will always put local people before party politics.”
