John Lamont MP has welcomed confirmation from Royal Mail that the post box in Paxton will be reinstated following his intervention.
The post box was damaged earlier this year in a road traffic accident, with Royal Mail initially indicating that it would not be replaced and that residents should instead use an alternative post box.
Mr Lamont subsequently contacted Royal Mail to call for the facility to be reinstated, after being contacted by a large number of concerned residents.
Royal Mail has now confirmed that a replacement post box will be installed in the village.
Borders MP John Lamont said: “I am delighted that Royal Mail has listened to the concerns of residents in Paxton and agreed to reinstate the post box.
“I previously called on Royal Mail to think again because removing this facility would have made life more difficult for many local residents, particularly elderly people.
“This is a small but important local service and I am pleased that Paxton residents will once again have convenient access to a post box in their village.”
