John Lamont MP has signed a joint statement calling for all energy projects to be paused, alongside the South of Scotland Convention of Community Councils.
John Lamont MP and Rachael Hamilton MSP attended the first ever South of Scotland Convention of Community Councils on Saturday in Jedburgh.
Borders MP John Lamont said: “This meeting shows just how strongly Borders residents feel about the sheer scale of energy developments being proposed across our countryside.
"The Borders is being overloaded with plans for mega-pylons, solar farms, wind farms, data centres and battery storage sites.
"Local communities are energised, frustrated and, in many cases, angry at the lack of care shown in the planning process.
"No one in either the UK or Scottish Government appears willing to take responsibility, but ultimately it is the Scottish Government’s planning framework that is creating this free for all.
"I will continue to fight to protect our countryside and ensure the views of local people are respected.”
