I have written a joint letter with Berwick MP David Smith to LNER, Network Rail and the UK Minister for Rail regarding local rail services.
We recently arranged a joint meeting with LNER and Network Rail to discuss their decision to significantly reduce services from Berwick-upon-Tweed station.
We have since written a joint letter to LNER, Network Rail and UK Minister for Rail, Lord Hendy.
It has also been signed by Rachael Hamilton MSP and eight local councillors.
Alongside my colleague in the UK Parliament, I have written to the Minister for Rail, LNER and Network Rail to outline our concerns and the need for change.
LNER and Network Rail offered no good explanation for their decision to significantly reduce train services at Berwick-upon-Tweed station.
I've heard from many local residents who rely on this station to get to work and visit family or friends.
It serves a large number of people but the new timetable means there will be just one LNER train every two hours.
I hope these cross-party efforts will demonstrate to LNER and Network Rail that the situation is unacceptable and the decision to drastically alter the timetable needs to be reconsidered.
I will work constructively with anyone who wants to improve rail services for local people."
