I have urged local residents who oppose plans for mega-pylons across the Borders to submit new objections to the updated proposals before the deadline this Friday.
The Cross Border Connection Project would install approximately 92km of new overhead power lines across the Borders.
Initial plans by Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) were roundly rejected by communities and opposed by John Lamont MP and Rachael Hamilton MSP.
Since the proposals for mega-pylons have been updated, I would encourage all Borders residents concerned by these plans to submit a new objection against them.
These new plans are just as bad for the Borders as the previous proposals. No routes underground have been considered.
Helping the environment should not mean damaging our beautiful Borders countryside.
The Labour and SNP governments are not listening. Ed Miliband will not even meet to discuss these proposals.
Borders communities should continue to make their voices heard to Scottish Power Energy Networks so these damaging proposals do not go ahead.
