I believe that people in Berwickshire and the east of the Borders should be able to use NHS services in England if they prefer.
I recently raised the issue in the House of Commons after constituents contacted me to ask why they could not.
So far, the SNP have refused to allow reciprocal care to go ahead.
Borders NHS workers do a tremendous job and provide patients with excellent care, but there is no doubt that many local people in Berwickshire would prefer to use services in England.
I have heard from a considerable number of local people who have told me it would be far more convenient for them to use services in places such as Berwick.
In many cases, it would mean they could receive faster treatment.
I have spoken with Northumbria NHS and they would welcome reciprocal care, but the SNP seem to be refusing to allow it to happen.
It's basic common sense that taxpayers who fund our NHS should be able to use the services that suit them best.
I’ll keep campaigning to make sure that local people can access NHS services as quickly and easily as possible."
