A group of fifth and sixth year pupils from Berwickshire High School recently visited the UK Parliament and spoke with local MP John Lamont as part of an official educational visit.
The students were shown around the Houses of Parliament and had the opportunity to learn more about how the political system works before meeting with the Borders MP.
Borders MP John Lamont said: “It was a pleasure to meet with the fifth and sixth year pupils from Berwickshire High School during their visit to Parliament.
“The students were engaged and asked interesting questions about how the UK Parliament works, what it is like to be an MP, and various issues affecting the Borders.
“Visits like this are a fantastic way for young people to see the UK Parliament for themselves and understand how our democratic system works.
“I would encourage other schools across the Scottish Borders to consider arranging a visit to Parliament. The education team offers an excellent programme for school groups, and I am always happy to meet with local pupils when they are in Westminster.”
