As you will know, the Prime Minister recently announced the Government's intention to provide the NHS with an additional £20.5 billion by 2023/24. This new investment is extremely welcome, and I hope you agree it demonstrates the UK Government's commitment to properly funding our NHS and public services.
This will mean an extra £2bn for the Scottish Government. Given the poor state of our health service at the moment in Scotland, I hope that the SNP will decide to spend this sum on improving our Scottish NHS.
I am proud of the UK Government’s recent record on the NHS where, despite difficult financial circumstances, investment has increased every year since 2010. I believe that this new investment will go some way in securing the future of public healthcare across the UK.
